I had the pleasure of spending 3 months at the Hills Health Ranch. I'm now sitting in my office in London, mind wandering to the fantastic scenery, so I did a quick websearch and came up with Trip Advisor and felt compelled to write a report. I arrived in Canada from the UK in the July, 6 stone overweight (84lbs), unfit and depressed. I left 3 months later 4 stone (56lbs) lighter, fighting fit and on top of the world. It's a long way to go to find such peace, wonderful scenery, fantastic food and, more specially fantastic people. Not only were ALL the staff unbelievable helpful, professional and encouraging, but the other guests were wonderful too. Early morning walks, wonderful low calorie food, exercise classes, lectures, horse riding, hikes (beware of the bears of which I saw many). I simply cannot being to describe how incredible the countryside is. There are activities all day if you wish to join in, the staff were so encouraging that you always did more than you thought you could. Excellent care and attention to your health, personal one to one meetings - nothing was too much trouble. Perhaps the highlight of my trip was when one of the guests, who was diabetic, joined the breakfast table to announce that for the first time as long as he could remember he didn't need to take an insulin injection. The exercise and weight-loss had maintained his insulin levels and he didn't need a jab. I've never seen anyone so happy. Please don't think though that everyone is grossly overweight - they aren't . Everyone is welcome from those who want to lose a couple of pounds to those that are rather more overweight. When I was there one of the guests had come only to train and increase her fitness levels, others came simply for the horse riding, walking etc. I simply cannot recommend the Hills highly enough. If you're reading this and your based in Europe it really is worth making the effort to travel to Canada rather than stay at a Spa/hydro here. As for me, if I was lucky enough to have 3 months free I'd go back tomorrow. Not because I need to lose weight - I didn't put it back on, but simply because I love the place for everything it stands for.
